Frequently Asked Questions

How does a client retain your services?

Generally, the Firm and the Client will meet to discuss the scope of representation and then enter into a written Retention Agreement. This agreement describes the scope of legal services the Firm will provide to the Client and the schedule of fees it will charge.

Are your fees charged on an hourly basis or will you enter into a contingency fee arrangement?

Because of the types of law we practice, we generally charge on an hourly basis. In limited circumstances, we may be willing to take a contingency fee. An example of a case we might take on a contingency fee basis is a personal injury claim. This arrangement will be discussed and agreed upon up front by the Client and the Firm.

How often do you send invoices for legal services?

We send our invoices monthly and expect payment in 30 days. Late payments are subject to interest charges.

If I become a client of the Firm, will I be assigned one attorney?

One attorney will be assigned to have primary responsibility for your legal matter. That attorney will have particular expertise in the area of practice needed for a successful result in your case. Other attorneys in the Firm will assist as needed, under the supervision of the primary attorney.

What if I need a lawyer for a matter outside the "Practice Areas" shown on your website?

Our attorneys have represented our clients on matters outside the listed "Practice Areas" in the past. However, if we do not feel we can adequately provide the legal services you need, we will refer you to other attorneys with the expertise required to suit your needs. We do not practice in the area of criminal law.

I'm thinking of hiring your Firm to represent me. May I get some references?

We will be happy to provide you with references upon request.
